The SD 450 APRON has a NATO STANAG 2920 V50 of 450m/s
The 450 apron is the second
in our proven line of frontal PPE designed for Humanitarian Demining. The original MK1, is still in use
around the world. As with the MK1 apron, the 450 apron is a loose fitting
shield in front of the deminer that provides field-proven levels of protection and
reliability.
The 450 apron was designed to
fulfil the following requirements:
1. Offer effective protection
against anti-personnel blast mines
2. Be light, cool and easy to wear
3. Be easy for the wearer to put on and take off without assistance
4. Minimise restriction in movement when walking or working
5. Be durable and easy to maintain
6. Have a removable washable terrycloth liner (optional)
7. Have a blast-deflection collar to overlap the
Demining Visor without reducing visibility.
The picture on the right shows the visor/collar interface.
Technical Data
Construction: Multi layer Polyamide fabric inner covered by
a removable washable outer cover. No Velcro is used to secure the garment to
the body and the apron is held on the body by heavy-duty elastic webbing and
quick release clips.
Weight: 3.7kg
Storage: The apron can be supplied with a purpose-designed bag capable of storing a Visor
and Knee Pads as well, with a special pouch to prevent the visor from getting
scratched.
Stitching: The core material is stitched in a novel way in order to retain the apron’s
shape and to prevent “bunching” of the fabric, leaving areas unprotected. (This
is a common problem with many other types of body armour.)
Plate inserts: No rigid
plate inserts are used to achieve the 450m/s V50 rating.
